Processes

The Eco-dye process starts in the garden. Our garden is filled with interesting perennials. Through trial and error, some plants are the, “Favorites.”
Peach and Red Hibiscus are big winners, most years.
Habatai Silk Scarves, already hemmed, are fan favorites as the scarf has finished edges. Reproducibility can be tough, especially as the summer climate waxes and wanes.
After the fabric has been treated, leaves and flowers are carefully placed on the fabric. Each time we learn how to improve.

After the plants and flowers are placed on the fabric, the piece is rolled around tubing, compressed with an elastic binder and steamed. This is the magic that permanently fixes the color to the fabric.
Steamers: Everything that can be done outside in the summer will be done.
Fabric can also be treated with a natural dye prior to placing the plants on the fabric.
